In winning the sought after 'Golden Spanner Award', the Australian team competed against and defeated entrants from 20 Isuzu truck distributor nations world-wide. Comprising Westar Truck Centre (Melbourne) Technician, James Daffy, Brisbane Isuzu Technician, Bernie Pease and coached by Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) Service Manager - NSW, Adam Bell, the Australian team built on last year's creditable fourth placing to unseat defending champions, Japan. Each team was required to complete a series of tests examining its measurement accuracy, vehicle inspection standards, fault identification capability, repair ability and theoretical understanding.
