Bobcat adds new Minimal Tail Swing excavator with E26
The E526 is standard equipped with a canopy ROPS/TOPS, while full climate control is optional. The compact excavator is available in standard and long arm configurations, enabling operators to dig in close quarters or reach farther in a smaller space, depending on the task at hand.
Within the operator's area, the E26 features convenient joystick-mounted, fingertip control for boom swing and auxiliary hydraulic functions. This feature provides increased floor space and improved functionality for the operator. Like other M-Series compact excavators, the E26 features an operator compartment comfortable for the largest of operators, as well as improved visibility around the machine, and adjustable armrests.
The E26 comes with an Auto-Idle feature, which if activated, automatically returns the engine to idle if excavator functions are not used for a period of four seconds, saving fuel. The engine automatically returns to the preset throttle position as soon as the operator starts working again.
A new easy-to-use rotary knob has been added to the controls for precise engine speed adjustments. The E26 also features an Auto-Shift drive system, improving productivity when traveling, repositioning and back filling. Auto-shift travel motors will automatically shift to low speed as drive load increases, and shift back to high range as the load declines. With this system, the operator retains the ability to manually select high or low range travel speeds.
As with all other M-Series compact excavators, a variable displacement piston pump and proportional control valve system provide precise control of the machine's travel and work-group functions. The E26's hydraulic system delivers exceptional "loaded" cycle times and 4,991 foot-pounds of bucket breakout force for impressive productivity. Work-group cylinders offer end-of-stroke cushioning for smooth operation.
An automatic, integrated slew brake hold loads still and steady on slopes for more accurate placement. The need for the operator to manually engage the slew brakes during transport is eliminated, making it easier to load and position the machine for transport. Integrated into the undercarriage, convenient tie-down points simplify trailer loading for transport.
In addition, Bobcat's exclusive in-track swing frame keeps the swing castings and cylinders within the width of the tracks when digging in an offset position.
Other options for the E26 include second auxiliary hydraulics, a hydraulic clamp and attachment mounting systems for quickly switching between the 16 attachments approved for use on the machine. While the new excavator has joined the Bobcat USA range there is no word on when the new machine will be offered in Australia.
